I just finished watching the romantic comedy "Life As We Know It" starring Katherine Heigl and Josh Dumal and although it was okay, I couldn't believe how many romance movie clichés were in it. We all know the movies I'm talking about. They always end happily with kisses and smiles, but how many times can the same things be used until enough is enough? The answer is...probably never!

Best Friends to Lovers - Always an interesting story line but we have seen it plentyyyy of times. They have the awesome best friend who is totally cute but that they'd never be interested in. This friend is there for them through good times and bad, always has great advice, is fun, well pretty much just the perfect partner, but nooo the main character does not realise this. He/she would rather go chasing around a complete jerk and cry about it. We know how it's going to end but it's still enjoyable every time, yes underline every time! We love the jealousy in these movies. Think "Win a Date with Tad Hamilton" I mean come on...this guy even knows how many smiles she has for crying out loud! Can't beat that :)

Love Triangle - Did someone say Twilight? It's usually the girl that has the two awesome guys after her and what is a girl to do? How is she to choose when they are both just so great? They will fight for her until the end and we love seeing it. They are both caring and sensitive, good-looking and trustworthy. Ahh it's a hard life. Another good example of the love triangle is Keeping the Faith, good movie.

The Mad Rush to the Airport - The lovers break up, one leaves for the airport and then suddenly the other realises that they actually do want to be with them. This is where the mad rush to the airport comes in. They arrive at the airport and realise that they're just too late (aww pouts and hunches shoulders) but then they turn their head and WOW there he/she is! How amazing! How could this be? There's kisses and happiness and a crowd cheering them on, how wonderful! Or sometimes it's even in the plane like on The Wedding Singer. She gets four clichés: on the plane, not realising she's in love, giving the mean guy the boot AND a song! Lucky girl!

Conveniently knowing that their love interest will be where they met at exactly the right time - Now this is what I call talent. It seems there are lots of psychics in romantic movies. They seem to get a vibe when their love interest is going to be at that park at this time and boom, there they are. Usually sitting patiently and alone on a bench...I guess they are waiting because they must be psychic too!

The Love Speech - How many times have you seen someone lay their love on the line in front of a crowd? Well I can say for sure that I've never seen it. It usually goes something like: "I've wanted to tell you this for so long, I love you, I always have loved you and always will." Or something to that effect, then everyone starts applauding and cheering. Also we have the mushy one liners such as: "You had me at hello." and "I'm just a girl standing in front of a boy, asking him to love her." Yeah mushy but we still love it :)

The Big Kiss (often in the rain or in front of a cheering crowd) - The moment that we've all been waiting for...the big smooch! What is it about a kiss in the rain that makes it so memorable? Well I don't know...it just does. But what about an upside down kiss...in the rain...with a super hero!!! Hellooo? Beat that! The Notebook always comes to mind too.

Opposites Attract - Two completely different individuals come together for our entertainment, to make a great couple. Not right away of course but after a while, when everything fits into place and they've decided that they are in love. The jock falls in love with the loner or the popular girl falls in love with a nerd. We all love cheering for the underdogs, that's why these movies are so enjoyable. A good example of this is: A Walk to Remember.

The Nerd gets Cool - The complete nerd of the school is picked on and forever tormented but suddenly becomes a smoking hot chick/guy. Wow, the transformation it out of this world! Who knew that such a geek could look so great? Nope, never would have thought it. My favourite example of this would have to be: She's all That...remember when she comes down the stairs, ohhhh the happiness!

They don't realise they're in Love - They get along brilliantly, they've always found each other attractive, they have fun together but they never really put the puzzle pieces together and figured out that they might be in love with each other. The Wedding Date for instance (great movie, I love that one) you know he's helping a girl out, pretending to be her boyfriend (as you do) and then after all of this they decide that yes they are in love, YAY! Or they wait until the other gets engaged to make a move like in My Best Friend's Wedding...not cool!

Performing a song/Playing a song from outside the window - Really? Has anyone ever done this for you? I remember this time when I was out on the soccer field at school and the tough guy everyone was afraid of started singing "I need you babyyyyy" Oh wait...no, sorry that was in 10 Things I Hate About You. Or sometimes they just throw rocks at my window.

The Easy Meeting - I don't know about you but how easy is it to meet the love of your life in the easiest of circumstances? I know right...like when you're sitting in a cafe having a coffee...yeah they always walk slowly over to you and ask to join you...Happens a lot! Or maybe you tripped over and they helped you up? Wedding bells anyone? Oh no you didn't just steal my taxi! Or maybe you just locked eyes in a crowded room and from there you were inseparable. Well hey at least it's that easy in the movies :)

Love/Hate - She thinks he's a pig, he thinks she's a bitch...yep! They go out of their way to be mean to the other, causing as much embarrassment as possible until something happens...maybe she starts crying...and suddenly they just know. It's like a smack in the face! How could they not have known that their hate was actually passionate and amazing love?

The Accidental Kiss - For some reason one of the pair seems to be in a room alone with some other good looking individual. Some how their lips get suctioned together and I mean, it wasn't their fault, it just happened. But right at the moment their partner walks in, eyes wide, mouth open and brows furrowed. The "kissee" tries to say "Wait..I'm sorry.." but the other has already rushed away in tears. Not so almighty now are ya Bruce?

The Mean One Gets The Boot - They stay with a horrible and mean person for so long that they think it's what was meant to be BUT NO there's always someone else that is perfect for you (in the movies) and it most likely is someone that you'd least likely expect. Just like in the movie Someone Like You. She gets rid of the jerk and then unsuspectingly finds the right one.

I love your hubs! I think about all the movies in general that are so predictable but I can say that I can't stop shelling out the cash to see them. A guilty pleasure I guess. Like playing in the rain and eating the last bit of pickles in the jar. (I love pickles!) Once again great job!
