My Favourite Teen/Comedy Movies © Sarah Masson 2011
The Breakfast Club - This is a classic about a group of mismatched teens in Saturday detention. It has all of the usual stereotypes in such movies including the brain, the athlete, a basket case, a princess and a criminal. The whole movie is set in their time during detention but they end up learning a lot from people that they would normally never have spoken to.
Ferris Buellers Day Off - Starring Matthew Broderick, this is the story of Ferris Bueller and the day he skips school with his girlfriend and best friend. It's a hilarious movie about the lengths he will go to so that he doesn't get caught.
Clueless - This is one of the great teen movies starring Alicia Silverstone, Paul Rudd and Britney Murphy. It's about the typical rich girl going through highschool. Friends, boys, learning to drive and everything in between. It's very funny and has great characters.
10 Things I Hate About You - This is a great movie about a guy who is in love with the popular girl but she is only allowed to date if her older sister does too. Her older sister is not interested in boys until she is set up with the bad boy. He pays the bad boy (who is played by Heath Ledger) to date her sister and it's going great until she finds out that he is being paid for his time.
Never Been Kissed - Starring Drew Barrymore this movie is about Josie Geller who is the copy editor at a newspaper. She wants to do something more exciting and successfully gets her first real assignment as a reporter. She has to pose as a student at a highschool and tell of her experience. It brings back memories of her hard years through school and proves that the drama never goes away.
Mean Girls - I love this movie, it's fantastic! Lindsay Lohan plays the main part of the new girl at school who is friends with a gay boy and a gothic type girl but is then accepted by the popular girls, giving her and her real friends the chance to mean things to the popular girls. It's a story of finding out who your real friends are and the hard times that people face during their high school years.
She's The Man - This is about a girl named Viola who is a great soccer player but when her team is eliminated, she tries to join the boys team but they won't allow it. When her twin brother Sebastian calls from London and informs her that he won't be back in time to start school, she gets an idea. She asks her makeup artist friend to turn her into her brother. All of this to get into the boys soccer team but she ends up falling in love with her room mate. It's hilarious watching her acting like a boy and going through all the drama of switching between being herself and her brother.
17 Again - Starring the gorgeous Zac Efron this is about a man who isn't happy with his life. He is married to his highschool girlfriend who had fallen pregnant while they were at school forcing him to quit playing basketball and losing his dream of becoming a professional player. He often thinks about what could have been. One day he sees a man at a bridge about to jump off and goes to help him and falls in himself which some how brings him back to his younger days as the basketball star. He has a chance to do it over again.
Now & Then - This is the story of four best friends. It starts with them coming back together as adults then goes back to their childhood. They grow up riding around town on their bikes, fighting with the boys and getting up to no good. It's a great movie for the girls, I always enjoy this one :)
